Give Me a Real Break

Throughout our semesters in school we are blessed with breaks, or days off from school. In our fall semester we have two breaks that occur, Fall Break and Thanksgiving break. Both of these breaks are appreciated and much needed. But what should a break from school consist of? When you hear the word break what do you think of? The term 'break' can be defined as a pause in work or an activity or event, in our case it is a pause in school for a few days. So when on a break from school, the last thing you should be or have to be thinking about is school. But yet we still do, and why is that? Could it have something to do with the a constant worry about future work that needs to be completed? Or maybe it is the work that is given to us during our break? There is always work to be done during the school year and when going on break and coming back school is still there, all students know this. So I do not understand why some professors (not all) feel the absolute need to give out assignments over our breaks. If these breaks were designed as a destress from classes then why are we given assignments to complete? On a break school work should be the last thing on our mind, breaks should be a pause in our daily stressors. They shouldn't just be considered extra days to complete assignments.
